It has the advantage of a free-arm, for ease of use. However, it is not as robust or durable as either the PR680W or the PR1055X. Having said that it costs considerably less. So I’d suggest there are two ways to look at this machine. For Pleasure If you’re looking for a single needle embroidery machine with a free arm, the Brother PR1X may well be for you. It’s more flexible that a regular ‘flat bed’ type embroidery machine. The free arm makes it much easier to embroider clothing – especially cylindrical, such as T-Shirts etc. For Business The best option for a business embroidery machine is the PR680W or the PR1055X. However, budget constraints may prevent the purchase of these machines. And as the PR1X is cheaper, it may fit the bill. Just be aware that it remains a single needle machine, so you have to unthread and rethread for ever colour change. Additionally, if your embroidery business increases, you will end up buying one of the PR models. So see the PR1X as a useful stepping stone.
