The Bernina Q16 Longarm Quilting Machine is the smallest of the three Bernina Q models. It can be fitted into four of the Sit-Down Tables. We’ve listed the four options in the drop-down menu above. Bernina Q16 Longarm Quilting Machine Main Features Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) The Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) is built into the Q16. It is easily controlled using the Q16’s touch screen. Designed to make Freehand Quilting easier, it keeps stitches even and consistent however fast or slow you quilt. The BSR has three modes of operation. Mode One: The needle continues to move even if you stop. Particularly useful when sewing corners. Mode Two: The needle stops when you stop. So you don’t make a knot. Very handy when quilting with rulers. Mode Three: This is a basting stitch. You can choose between 1, 2 or 3 stitches per inch. Meaning your whole quilt can be basted without safety pins. A manual mode, with no stitch regulation is also available. Electronic Thread Tension Adjustment You can easily adjust the top thread tension on the screen. You can also track the settings for your favourite thread types, and combinations. Needle Threader Built-in Needle Threader Domestic and Twin Needle Compatible The Bernina Q16 Longarm Quilting Machine accepts regular needles. In other words, you can use the domestic 705 system, flat-sided needle. So need for any ‘special needles’. Having said that, always choose a good quality needle. IN addition, you can use a Twin Needle and the Twin Needle Stitch Plate. This will help you achieve attractive ribbon-like effects. You can also experiment with two colours or shades of thread to produce 3D effects. Kickstart Function for Quilting Without Foot Control The Kickstart function allows quilting in a continuous sewing mode, without having to keep the foot control constantly pressed. Control Screen Like all the Bernina Q Series models, the Q16 has a colour control screen. It’s a simple to navigate, and customisable touch-screen. Useful functions include, fiver user profiles, stitch-counter and various built-in tutorials.
