How to find location of OST file?


Since if you are using Exchange Server account, all items are delivered and saved on server. You can configure Outlook to keep a local copy of all the items. It is stored in OST data file on hard drive of your system. The file extension .ost is used for the same. You can create it when you set up Outlook. This file resides on your system saving all your Outlook data informations used with Exchange Account. To find location of OST file follow up the given steps:

For Outlook 2010
  • Find location of ost file in windows 8,7, 10 & Vista
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
  • Find Location of OST file in Windows 10
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
For Outlook 2007
  • Find location of OST file in Windows Vista
    C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
  • Find Location of OST file in Windows XP or Windows Server 2003
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

If you still cannot find location of OST file in Outlook 2007 then follow these simple steps:

  1. Open MS Outlook
  2. Go to Tools menu and click on Account settings
    tools menu
  3. From the Account Settings select Microsoft Exchange Server and then click Change
    account settings
  4. Click on More Settings from Change E-mail Account dialog box

  5. Select Advance tab and then click on Offline Folder File Settings dialog box

  6. An offline folder file settings dialog box appears. In the File text box you will find location of ost file as shown in the given below image

Just follow the path shown in the text box this will give you OST file storage location.

Find location of OST file in Outlook 2003 and previous versions
  1. Click on Tools menu and then select Email Accounts
  2. Select View or change Existing E-mail account » Click Next
  3. Click MS Exchange Server » Click Change
  4. Click on More Settings option
  5. Go to Advance tab » click Offline Folder File Settings
MS outlook 2010 users follow these steps:
  1. Click on File tab » Select Info from the menu
  2. Click on Account Settings tab » click on Account Settings option
  3. Choose "Microsoft Exchange Server", then click Change
  4. Click "More Settings"
  5. Select Advance Tab » Click on Offline Folder File Settings
